Wycliffe Canada is pleased to announce that the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) has agreed to provide leadership to an independent review of Wycliffe and SIL policies for translating the terms that refer to "God the Father" and "Son of God."

As noted in our original position statement of Jan. 30, 2012, Wycliffe Canada continues to affirm those translations that use wording which accurately communicates the relationship by which God has chosen to describe Himself as Father in relationship to His Son, Jesus Christ, in the original languages of Scripture.

Wycliffe Intern Wins Scholarship for Research Project

A University of Calgary (U of C) student serving as a Wycliffe Canada intern has received a $1,000 U of C scholarship for his research into the writing systems used to translate Scripture for Canada’s Cree nation and two languages in Asia. The project demonstrated how the scripts affected all three language groups by giving them access to Scripture, helping preserve their culture and giving them greater access to national education.

Roy Eyre Inducted as Wycliffe Canada’s New President

Wycliffe Bible Translators of Canada held an induction ceremony for the new president, Roy Eyre, on Nov. 30. The event, held at Cornerstone Church in Calgary, was well attended by local pastors, church and national leaders, as well as Wycliffe members and Wycliffe board directors. It was a time of celebration as well as “passing on the baton.”
