Why Race?

We know that young Canadians crave adventure! Race to 2025 bridges the adrenalin rush of adventure sport young Canadians crave and the extreme adventure to which Jesus calls His Church—to make disciples of all nations.

Capturing the hearts and imaginations of Canadian young adults, Race to 2025 is moving a new generation out to the nations! Wycliffe Bible Translators has a vision: “to see a Bible translation in progress in every language that needs it by the year 2025.” Race to 2025 is responding to the plight of more than 340 million people in 2,078 isolated language groups scattered around the world, who still have no access to God’s Word in a language they can understand.

Race to 2025 events from 2007 to 2011 saw about 470 young Canadians raise in excess of $350,000 for crucial Bible translation projects in Sudan, Asia, Cameroon, Ghana, India, DR Congo and Peru. Engaging as advocates for the Bibleless peoples of the world, this new generation is passionately embracing God’s heart for the nations.

Through Race to 2025, participants are helping penetrate some of the most inaccessible regions on the face of the earth with His eternal Word of hope. Many are boosting their commitment to the next level, and are preparing to "go ye into all the world" long term!

This February 2012, in partnership with the Canada Institute of Linguistics and Frontier Lodge, Wycliffe Canada will host its next Race to 2025 event. Wycliffe’s first landmark adventure race, “Race to 2025: Sudan,” was held in September 2007.
