The Canada Institute of Linguistics (CanIL), is Wycliffe’s partner for linguistics training in Canada. It provides a streamlined sequence of courses to prepare students for language and culture learning, literacy-based development, and Bible translation, so that all people may have access to the Bible in their own language. Operating as the linguistics department of Trinity Western University, CanIL offers a variety of courses including an MA in Linguistics, a BA in Applied Linguistics, a Minor in Applied Linguistics, and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). Instructors help students obtain preparatory academic and effective training for cross-cultural or language-related work.
Interested applicants should have graduate level education in Applied Linguistics, Linguistics or a related field; experience and ability in academic instruction; ability to relate to academic colleagues; ability to relate to students; and ability to plan and set curriculum. Successful applicants are expected to:
- become well acquainted with CanIL policies and procedures
- prepare/develop course curriculum
- instruct course(s)
- prepare grading and evaluation for the Academic Dean
- participate in professional development
- participate in CanIL administrative and social activities
