As you and your loved ones deal with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s our prayer that you will find much comfort and hope in God’s Word. We know you share our deep concern for language groups that still have no access to the life-giving words of Scripture, and that’s why we’re doing our utmost to keep Bible translation advancing in these challenging days.
At the same time, we have taken steps to protect the health and wellbeing of our staff members and their families. Our offices across Canada are closed to the public, and all staff have been encouraged to work from home if possible. We’ve also taken additional steps to provide spiritual encouragement and mental health support for all staff and volunteers.
Staff assigned to overseas projects are working with area supervisors to determine the safest course of action at this time. In some cases, it may be safer for them and their families to stay where they are, rather than to attempt to travel home. However, all overseas-assigned staff have our blessing and support to return to Canada if they so choose.
You may be aware that Wycliffe Canada has an ongoing Emergency Fund to help staff members facing health crises, major financial shortfalls and other unforeseen circumstances. We anticipate a significant draw on this fund in the coming weeks and months. A gift will provide much-needed support for staff members dealing with a variety of difficult circumstances, as they work to further Bible translation around the world.
