FJELDSTROM, Larry

Larry’s involvement with Wycliffe goes back to 1974, when he was in Mexico for a one-year term. He worked as a member of the computer department, where he developed a life-long passion for the Bible translation ministry.

After completing his bachelor of computer science, Larry and his wife Sharon joined Wycliffe in 1976 and moved to Calgary, Alta., to work in the head office. Larry has held a variety of positions since then,. including mail room supervisor, office manager, media services manager, computer department manager, and staff member of LEAD and Partners with Nationals (departments which eventually became the autonomous organization called OneBook).

Larry has been seconded to work with OneBook since its 2009 incorporation. Wycliffe Canada and OneBook are both members of the Wycliffe Global Alliance. OneBook is focused on partnering with national organizations involved in Bible translation projects. Its goal is to partner with these organizations, helping nurture and fund the completion of 250 translation projects in the countries where these organizations serve.

Currently, Larry is the donor relations co-ordinator and office manager of the OneBook Calgary office, dealing with day-to-day operations of sending out acknowledgements and receipts, and making thank-you calls to donors. His lifetime interest in computers is fulfilled in doing this. A strong interest in art enables him to periodically assist in graphic design.

Larry’s wife Sharon is currently a schoolteacher at a private school in Calgary. They have three grown children, Erik, Sonja and Corwin.
