GARDNER, Bill and Lori

Americas

Members of Wycliffe since 1983, Bill and Lori worked with SIL in Africa for 19 years, in Central (Congo-Brazzaville), Southern (Mozambique) and Eastern Africa (Kenya), training Africans in linguistics for Bible translation, literacy and Scripture Engagement.

They now train students in linguistics and language learning with Wycliffe’s training partner, the Canada Institute of Linguistics (CanIL), on the campus of Tyndale University, preparing students to work cross-culturally with minority language groups in Bible translation and language development.

Bill is an ordained minister and also a linguistics consultant for Southern Africa, seeking to develop more linguistics specialists and consultants for that region.

Their two adult sons, Jonathan and Michael, grew up in Africa, are now married and have sons themselves, whom Bill and Lori enjoy visiting in California during breaks between teaching at CanIL.
