We love volunteers!

If you’re a Canadian looking for ways to make a difference, consider a volunteer work project with Wycliffe Canada. Your skills are needed to provide God’s life-changing Word for people around the world.

Retired? Thinking of a second career?

God can use your skills and experience to further Bible translation efforts around the world. Opportunities exist for administrators, accountants, HR managers and IT specialists (both systems and programming). We have roles in literacy and training, and for teachers, writers, vernacular media specialists and people skilled in creative arts. If you’ve been a good supervisor in a non-ministry workplace, that’s a definite advantage, too.

Wycliffe Canada Advocate

As a Wycliffe Canada advocate, you can help people receive God’s Word in their heart language—right from where you live. Come alongside us to represent Wycliffe in your own spheres of influence: churches, schools, Bible studies, small groups. Share how Bible translation leads to transformed lives and how Canadian believers can be involved. We provide the training, resources, and support you’ll need, so that you can play a part in transforming people’s lives with the love of Jesus Christ. Contact Paul Hooper for more information.

Programmer/Analyst — Calgary

If you’re an experienced programmer who values the work of Bible translation, we invite you to join our Calgary team. We’re looking for someone who can help us operate, maintain and improve Wycliffe Canada’s vital information technology infrastructure.

Hospitality Ministry

Do you have a spare bedroom? Accommodations are needed in Calgary for visiting staff attending meetings, and throughout Canada for staff travelling for R&R or to visit their ministry partners. Let us know how many you would be willing to host, and for how long.

Donor Affirmer — Calgary

Do you enjoy friendly telephone conversations and thanking people? Do you have a day or two per week or per month where you could thank donors for their invaluable contribution to Bible translation, and pray for them? Familiarity with MS Excel and database management will help, too.

Document Scanner — Calgary

Our finance team serves our members so that gifts are received, recorded and then receipts prepared. We need someone who can scan finance records and statements, then file them electronically. Hours are flexible.

One way to help keep people inspired and committed to Bible translation is to share stories about how God is working through their efforts and prayers. Our Volunteer Ventures publication is sent to all volunteers two or three times a year, while another piece serves our Wycliffe Canada alumni. If you enjoy taking information from interviews or written prose and crafting a captivating newsletter, we would love your help.

Co-ordinator of Office Volunteers — Calgary

The volunteers who serve in our Calgary office are highly committed to Bible translation and a great asset to our team. As co-ordinator, you would represent their interests and needs to management and help us spread the word about volunteer needs in Wycliffe.

Events Co-ordinator

Are you energetic and a good organizer? Do you love event planning? Your skills can help introduce more Canadians to the work of Bible translation.

Refuge 139

Do you enjoy working with children? Would a 2-week trip to Cameroon, Africa capture your interest? We need volunteers from March 26-April 10, 2020 to serve Wycliffe missionary families as the parents attend a retreat and branch conference.

Volunteer Recruiter

Bible translation is a team effort, with various skills, passions and training banding together to see that all have access to Scripture in their heart languages. Our volunteers make a difference in practical ways, either in Canada, at one of Wycliffe’s U.S. centres or overseas. Do you enjoy networking and getting the word out on the need for added help? We have a spot for you.

How the Volunteer Process Works

You can use your abilities as a volunteer, both domestically and globally. The application includes flexibility in where, how long and what time of year you want to serve. You can serve from your home, in one of our Canadian offices, at one of the Wycliffe USA centres or in a multitude of overseas positions.

What to Expect in the Application Process

  • You will complete and submit an application.
  • Your application will be reviewed by a volunteer team member.
  • That team member will contact you about next steps.
  • You’ll be required to submit three references.
  • You’ll need to complete a background check.
  • Prior to being accepted as an official volunteer, you will need to sign a volunteer agreement.
