Barry & Bonnie's Profile

Newmarket, Ontario is where Bonnie grew up. Later, her family moved to Huntsville, her father's home area, and now her family lives in Smiths Falls. Churches from all those areas partner with Barry and Bonnie, as well as a church in Peterborough.

Bonnie joined Wycliffe as a translator in August 1976. She met Barry, a high school teacher, in Oklahoma during their training with Wycliffe the following year. Barry is from Adrian, Michigan, not too far across the border from Windsor.

By God's grace, Barry and Bonnie have served in Papua New Guinea since 1979. For 2 years, they worked with the Bukiyip translation project. (The New Testament was completed by others in 1994.) Then, Bonnie trained as a translation consultant and served in various roles related to translation while Barry taught missionary kids at Ukarumpa International School (UIS), for 26 years.

They have an adult son, who was born and raised in Ukarumpa, and now lives in the US.

Since 2009, both Barry and Bonnie have been training and mentoring Papua New Guinean Bible translators and consultants. They consider it a great privilege to have witnessed not only growth in translation skills, but also spiritual growth in the lives of  men and women who are involved in translating God's Word for their own people!

The burden of their hearts is for all Papua New Guineans to intimately know God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, as the Holy Spirit speaks to them through God's Word in their heart language.

Thank you for considering partnering with them in this ministry through prayer and/or financially!
