Americas WOLVERTON, Amy Amy joined Wycliffe in 2007 and has served both overseas and in Canada. She was a Scripture Use worker in Tanzania among the Sandawe people and has served as the Internship Co-ordinator for Wycliffe Canada. Currently, Amy works as the Staff Care Administrator for Wycliffe Canada and as a Wycliffe Mobilizer in Manitoba. In her role, Amy helps people complete their necessary training and paperwork for overseas ministry, keeps the database up to date and helps the Staff Care Team with administrative tasks. South Pacific LOTT, Jeremy and Tanya Jeremy and Tanya Lott are from Northern Ontario and are currently serving in Papua New Guinea (PNG). They joined Wycliffe in 2010, and moved to Ukarumpa PNG with their four sons—Caleb, Daniel, Seth and Steven. Jeremy is an auto mechanic who works at the auto shop as assistant manager and floor supervisor. Tanya works at the clinic as lead receptionist and medevac co-ordinator. Jeremy is excited to be able to use his skills as an automotive mechanic to directly support Bible translation by maintaining the vehicles used by missionaries, and departments such as the clinic ambulance and fire truck. He also enjoys the opportunity to work on vehicles from other mission organizations. Tanya enjoys having the opportunity to work at the medical clinic, supporting the physical and mental health of missionaries to keep them on the field. South Pacific VAN ANDEL, Andrew and Megan Andrew and Megan have been members of Wycliffe since 2011 and have served in Solomon Islands in the South Pacific for the majority of that time. They have four children. Andrew works as a translation advisor with the Malango language community. He is also the Director of Language Programs for the Solomon Islands translation group, helping to oversee the 20+ ongoing language projects in the country. Americas JOHNSON, Rod and Beth Rod grew up in Edmonton and Beth in Olds, Alta. They met and were married in Edmonton in 1991. In 1995, Rod and Beth moved to Saipan where they worked for Far East Broadcasting Company and where their two children were born. Rod and Beth joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in 2003 after returning from Saipan. Returning to Canada, they still wanted to be involved with missions and were excited about being part of Bible translation. Rod works in Wycliffe Canada’s Virtual Environments as a network technician in the Calgary office. Working from home, Beth has had a number of roles and currently works in Wycliffe Canada’s finance department. ‎ SVET, Rodion and Elena Rodion and Elena joined Wycliffe Canada in 2023, transferring from another Wycliffe organization. Elena served in West Africa from 2008 to 2012 as a linguist and currently serves as a Staff Care Advisor with Wycliffe Canada. Rodion joined Wycliffe shortly after their marriage in 2012, working with Indigenous peoples in Northern and South Eurasia. In 2019, seeing the vast need in the region, Rodion and Elena moved to Eurasia with their two children, Oleg and Mira, to help manage local projects. War in the region forced them to relocate in 2023, bringing them back to Canada, where they welcomed their third child, Emma. South Pacific WHITEHEAD, Carl and Pat Carl and Pat are members of Wycliffe Bible Translators and worked with the Summer Institute of Linguistics in Papua New Guinea from 1974 until June 2025. They are now settling into life in Winnipeg but continuing to work part time with Wycliffe and SIL. They are sharing their home with two of their unmarried adult children (Lincoln and Stephanie). Two of their sons live in Quesnel BC (Jason with wife Windsong, and Sean). Their youngest (Korin with wife Montze) lives in Edmonton. Their primary assignment in PNG was working among the Menya people, one of more than 800 languages in the country. In 2018, the New Testament in Menya was completed. They were also heavily involved in training Papua New Guinea nationals to do literacy and translation in their own languages. Now that they are in Canada, Pat is working on reformatting a journal of translation-related articles that began publication in 1950. The purpose is to convert them to a more modern format so that translaters around the world can learn from the experince of the early translators who wrote the articles. Carl is continuing to work with three Menya men who are translating various Old Testament books. Americas ROYER, Kent and Brenda Kent came to know the Lord through a Bible believing church, but admits he spent considerable time measuring what he heard against the Scriptures. Ultimately, the Lord used this commitment to the value of Scripture to call him and Brenda into service with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Kent firmly believes that if he has access to Scripture in his language, why shouldn’t everyone have that privilege? Brenda grew up in a Bible believing Church and has always valued God’s Word. Together they have served Wycliffe Canada for over 27 years in middle management roles. Kent is the oldest son of three boys and was raised on an irrigation farm in southern Alberta. Brenda is the youngest of six and was raised on a dryland farm in southern Saskatchewan. In 1980, Kent moved to Medicine Hat to begin a new job and met Brenda when he opened up a bank account at the bank where she was employed. After a brief courtship, they were married in October of 1981. Early in 1995, God confirmed a call on their lives to serve in missions. They became Wycliffe Canada members later that year. In August 1996, the Royer’s moved to Cameroon, where they began their first assignment serving at the African Orientation Course (AOC). After their first term in Cameroon they were asked to take on the Directorship of AOC. They often say they had the best jobs in all of Cameroon, because they not only got to work alongside so many quality people who were beginning their careers in missions, but they also loved the African team that worked alongside them. They enjoyed the many opportunities to travel and meet Cameroonians from all parts of that diverse country. They have since served in various support roles in Wycliffe Canada. Kent serves as the Travel Risk Manager for Wycliffe Canada, advising members through Risk Assessments about the risks of travelling and serving in their country of assignment. Our people are our most precious asset, and having them well informed and trained to handle different security situations in this era of quickly changing risk environments is crucial to their personal safety and decision making. In this role he also represents Wycliffe Canada on the SIL Global Security Risk Management team. He also serves as Response Team member on the International HR team, and is working into the role of Child Safety Officer for Wycliffe Canada. Brenda is currently serving in two different roles: she is the Insurance Administrator for Wycliffe Canada, ensuring our travelling members have the medical insurance they need, whether for long term service overseas or shorter trips that take them out of Canada. She also serves as Staff Care Advisor, providing support and care to multiple Wycliffe Canada members. Kent and Brenda have three adult children and five grandchildren. Tellisa and her husband Jim live in Medicine Hat, Alta., where they are raising Elias, Liana and Jaine to know and follow Jesus. Curtis and his wife Karla live in Rocky Mountain House, Alta., where Curt works as an emergency medical technician and Karla works and teaches as a seamstress. The last few years they have been working at Northern Lights Lodge in Likely, B.C. Landon is married to Katelyn and they reside in Langley, B.C., where they are mom and dad to Madelaine (Maddy) and Jonas. Global PETERSON, Doyle and Carol Carol and Doyle each grew up in missions-minded families and accepted Christ before their teen years. They have committed their careers to bringing God’s Word to people in all languages and ethnic groups. They were each sent into missions by their home churches and met while serving with Wycliffe’s partner for technical services, JAARS, at their centre in North Carolina. Doyle and Carol were married in 1984; a few months later, they were on their way to Africa to support Bible translation teams working in remote villages. The Petersons have served in Togo, Africa, at the international support centres in Texas and North Carolina, and in the Wycliffe Canada headquarters in Calgary. While the early years of Doyle’s service were in information technologies to support translation teams, he has served more recently in roles to develop capacity in Wycliffe and its key partners to develop long-range plans for reaching remaining languages that do not yet have God’s Word. Carol has worked as a travel consultant at JAARS and in the finance office of Wycliffe Canada, processing donations for missionaries and projects. Doyle now serves the global efforts of Wycliffe and key partners, as a strategy and planning consultant. He often mentors younger leaders as the Bible translation ministry expands globally. Doyle and Carol are committed to helping those people in the most difficult and marginalized regions of the world hear and understand God’s Word. Americas REED, Martin and Alice Martin and Alice are based in Calgary, Alberta with their children Grace (8) and Kai (5). Martin develops relationships between Wycliffe and First Nations believers in Canada so that the organization can better support their Bible translation and language development needs. He is also pursuing certification as a sociolinguistics consultant. Alice is a Bible translation consultant who reviews completed Scripture translations for clarity, accuracy, and naturalness prior to publication. In addition to supporting the Blackfoot translation project in southern Alberta, Alice also serves translation teams internationally, primarily in anglophone and francophone Africa. Before moving to Calgary, the Reeds worked in northern Manitoba and Quebec, partnering with First Nations church leaders to create Scripture products and promote the use of Indigenous languages in church, school, and community life. Alice holds a Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary and a M.A. in Biblical Exegesis and Linguistics from Dallas Theological Seminary. Americas HETTINGA, Justin and Tammy Justin grew up in Saskatoon, Sask., while Tammy grew up in Chilliwack, B.C. and later (junior and senior high years) in the Peruvian Amazon as a Wycliffe missionary kid. This prairie boy and jungle girl met at Canadian Bible College in Regina, Sask. Their shared interest in South America and their desire to serve in cross-cultural ministry were two of many things that sparked their relationship, which resulted in marriage in 1994. They joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1997 and began their training with Wycliffe Canada’s training partner, the Canada Institute of Linguistics, in 1998. By 1999, they were on their way to Costa Rica for Spanish studies. The following year, they began their first assignment in Peru as adult literacy specialists among the Quechua people. There they helped several indigenous organizations develop sustainable literacy and Bible translation programs. In 2007, Justin completed his master of arts in leadership degree (non-governmental organization specialization) from Trinity Western University (done mostly via distance while in Peru). Having completed their project in the summer of 2010, they moved to Wycliffe Canada’s headquarters in Calgary, where they served on the leadership/administrative team for six years. In May 2016, Justin began serving as the Americas Area director for SIL (Wycliffe’s main field partner). In this role, he gives leadership to all of SIL’s work in North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean. Tammy is his administrative assistant. Although their roles have changed over the years, their vision remains the same: that all peoples on earth have access to the Word of God in a language they understand best, enabling them to flourish in life and know God.
