BUSTIN, Rob and Kara

Africa

Helping African communities flourish through mother-tongue scripture and Christ-centred education.

Rob and Kara live in Ethiopia with their three daughters, Madelyn, Charlotte, and Tessa, where they serve with SIL, one of Wycliffe Canada’s key field partners. Since 2013, their family has been part of God’s transforming work, helping people encounter Scripture in the languages they value most.

Rob serves as Strategic Initiatives Coordinator for the SIL Africa Area, Language Services Support team, and as Interim Programs Director for SIL Southern Africa, providing program support to Bible translation, Scripture engagement, and language development projects across Africa. His passion is to equip and mentor national programming staff and to strengthen partnerships with local churches and language communities so that God’s Word takes root and leads to transformation.

Kara serves as the Elementary Principal Team Administrator at Bingham Academy, an international Christian school where their daughters attend. She loves Bingham’s vision, which is to “teach truth, equip generations and change the world for God’s glory”. Through her work, she supports faculty, parents and elementary students from different backgrounds in faith and learning.

Together, Rob and Kara long to see communities across Africa flourish as people encounter God’s Word in the language that speaks to their hearts, and they’re grateful for your prayers and partnership that make this vision possible.

Together, we can equip leaders and communities to experience lasting transformation.
