JOHNSON, Steve and Celene

South Pacific

Wycliffe wants to see: “Papua New Guineans knowing and living God’s Word, leading to changed lives and transformed communities.”

That is why Steve and Celene work together with language groups and churches in Papua New Guinea (PNG) to encourage local ownership of Bible translation, literacy and Scripture use. Although Steve is from the Seattle area, Celene grew up in Chilliwack and Abbotsford, B.C. They joined Wycliffe in 1996 and have been assigned to PNG since 1998.

Steve and Celene have filled several different roles throughout their years in PNG. Their current service consists of Steve working to build strategic relationships at national, regional and local levels to enable Bible translation in Papua New Guinea. Celene helps by using her skills in accounting.
