LOCKHART, Doug

Americas

Doug and his wife Barbara both grew up in Calgary and met in 1976 at Berean Bible College. Following their marriage in 1978, they attended a Youth With A Mission (YWAM) discipleship training school in British Columbia. From 1985-89, they served as staff members at YWAM’s training centre in Turner Valley, Alta.

In 1991, the Lockharts and their three children moved to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, where Doug served as a staff writer for YWAM’s University of the Nations and Barbara received training in biblical counselling.

Since 1998, Doug has served Wycliffe Canada as an advocate for Bible translation through communications. He helps publicize Wycliffe’s work through writing, editing and proofreading a variety of print and digital publications, including In Other Words newsletter, Prayer Alive email updates and Wycliffe Canada’s blog, Word Alive Now.

The Lockharts have three adult children: Jesse, Erin (married to Chan), and Allison (married to Michael). Doug and Barbara have also been blessed with six wonderful grandchildren.
