LUONG, Raymond

Raymond entered the University of Calgary with an open heart to explore his faith. For the next five years, Raymond had the opportunity to take leadership roles for Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship and Baptist Student Ministries. God used these campus groups to build life-long friendships in Raymond’s life, expanding and confirming his faith in Jesus Christ.

Coming towards graduation, Raymond made the decision to participate in a missions conference called Urbana 2015. There, God challenged him to pray about the possibility of serving in full-time ministry to begin his career. After considering multiple options, Raymond decided to use his programming degree to join Wycliffe and serve God as a software developer to support Bible translation. Since June 2017, Raymond has been working on a linguistics application called FieldWorks Language Explorer. Many language and translation projects active in the past decade have relied heavily on the FieldWorks tool.

At Calgary Chinese Baptist Church, Raymond has always been inspired by the joy of the Chinese-speaking adults as they worship God. He is worthy of all our worship, and it is only natural for us to praise Him in the language we know best. Will you considering partnering with Raymond to bring the best language tools to support Bible translation for our brothers and sisters around the world?

“From the rising of the sun, to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.” – Psalm 113:3
