The Schettlers joined Wycliffe’s staff in January of 2025, and are looking forward to working remotely with a small animations team through SIL International, Wycliffe’s key field partner. Nicole is exploring a possible role in administration with Wycliffe Canada, while Nathan is excited to use his knowledge and skills in video game design and development to help the team in their current projects. ‎ HAWKINS, Anna Anna grew up in Midway, B.C. (a small village in the southern interior). She joined Wycliffe in February of 2023 and currently, she is living in Castlegar, B.C., working remotely on The Bible Translator’s Assistant (TBTA) software program as a linguistic analyst. Anna works with other TBTA team members around the world, to build an exegetically encoded text for the program to use for translation projects. Global DIRKS, Wayne and Valerie Wayne and Valerie serve at Wycliffe Canada’s head office in Calgary, where they support the huge task of translating the Word of God into the languages of the world that don’t have it yet. Wayne helps in custom website programming and design. Valerie serves in a leadership role, supporting administrative roles. Wayne and Valerie began their journey with Wycliffe in 1994, serving first in Kenya, where Wayne worked in IT support and Scripture publishing for 18 New Testaments in different languages across Africa. ‎ VENTE, Andrew Andrew and his wife Renita live in the Vancouver area in Canada. Andrew worked for many years in a rehabilitation centre in Vancouver, specializing in physical therapy for seniors. Having recently completed certificate studies in linguistics and Scripture engagement, he joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in early 2026 and is preparing for an assignment as a ‘Field Project Liaison,’ corresponding between Wycliffe Canada and Field Projects in Papua New Guinea. Working mostly from home, his service will include supporting the progress of the work, identifying challenges the project teams face, what needs arise and how available resources might assist them. Americas GROVE, Caleb and Courtney Caleb and Courtney Grove are honoured to be invited to work with the Kwak'wala Bible translation team on northern Vancouver Island. This team—made up of community elders and leaders in the local Church—is working to translate the Bible in a way that will strengthen Kwak'wala learners and speakers, aid in cultural practice and language revitalization, and help faith to flourish. In collaboration with local believers and other Wycliffe members, the Groves hope to serve the Kwak'wala speaking communities through linguistics, translation advising, and engagement with the translated Scriptures. Originally from New Brunswick, the Groves and their four daughters look forward to living life together with the people of the beautiful BC coast. Global TENNANT, Dawson and Pat Dawson and Pat are pleased to serve out of the Wycliffe Calgary office in various roles which support the global work of Bible translation. They have two grown sons. Joseph, their eldest, is married to Hannah and they live in Calgary with their first child, Mary. David, always an adventurer, is getting settled in Europe. Dawson manages the Language Technology Team, which makes software for translators and linguists. He also serves as a field partner liaison with the Silk Road Ascent project. Pat serves part time with Wycliffe Canada’s prayer department, rustling up prayer for the work of Bible translation around the world, and helping build prayerfulness within Wycliffe Canada. She also serves part time as prayer co-ordinator for the I55 group—serving Bible translation ministries in the area of West Asia where they formerly worked. These roles enable linguists and translators around the world to thrive in their work of bringing the transforming Word of God to people who speak languages that are lacking Bible translations. Dawson was raised in Edmonton, Alta. Pat is from Oakville, Ont. They met in Langley, B.C. at the Canada Institute of Linguistics (CanIL) in 1993 and were married in 1996. After that they continued to serve at CanIL for almost two years. Pat was an administrative assistant and an instructor. Dawson served in computer network management, finances, and occasionally he taught. In 1998 they moved to West Asia for an assignment in linguistics and translation, and returned to live in Canada in 2013. They have been serving at the Wycliffe Canada headquarters ever since. Americas WUERMLI, Sam and Dolores “The Lord says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.’” Psalm 32:8 (NLT) Sam was born in Switzerland and is the second oldest of four boys. Their parents worked for Gott hilft (God helps) as houseparents for a home of about 30 children. There was much activity, work in the garden, farm and home, hiking, playing soccer and enjoying just being kids. On a regular basis, missionaries would come and do VBS weeks to instil world mission and needs around the world in the hearts of the children. Sam immigrated to Canada in 1976 as a young man and worked on a dairy farm in Fort St. John, B.C. A few years later he moved to Calgary and worked for Digital Equipment (DEC) in computer hardware. Dolores was raised in B.C. and she heard about Wycliffe at Bible school (CLBI). She began working in the finance department at the Calgary office in July 1980 as a short-term assistant. She stayed on for five years working in various roles in the department. During this time she met Sam, and they were married in 1982. The Lord blessed them with two children, Natashia and Josiah. In 1987 they moved back to Fort St. John to the same dairy farm. After eight years working in this amazing community, the Lord began to touch their hearts to consider missions once again. In September 1995 they joined Wycliffe as career members. Sam and Dolores took assignments with the South Asia Group (an SIL entity) based at the Wycliffe UK centre in Horsleys Green, England in 1996. Over their 15 years in England, they filled support roles in computer and finance, maintenance and as house-parents for volunteers. The Lord guided the Wuermlis to return to Canada, orchestrating the plan and preparing them for roles with Wycliffe Canada. In the Calgary office, the work they do is transforming lives and helping minority language groups to hear about God and His love letter for them. The Wuermlis’ prayer is that the church will rise up and pray, give and go to serve the Lord where He calls them. They are grateful to be involved in this work, and invite you to partner with them as the Lord leads you. Their family has grown in the past 16 years. Americas STUART, Peter and Linda Peter was born and raised in Bridgewater, N.S. until he left to attend Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill. There he met his wife, Linda who is from Appleton, Wis. They married in 2005 and moved to Washington State, where they continued with Moody Aviation in their mission aviation program. In 2012, they joined Wycliffe and in 2014 moved to Brazil with their two boys. In May 2015, the couple gave birth to their third son, Kean, while living in Brazil. In 2026, after 12 years of serving in missionary aviation, they transitioned back to North America. They continue to be involved in missionary aviation through reaching the next generation of missionary aviators. Using the talents, skills, and experience that God has given them they want to invest in the training of future and current missionaries. ‎ MORRIS, Pamela Originally from southern Ontario, Pamela graduated from the Canada Institute of Linguistics, Wycliffe’s training partner, in 2004. Three years later, she began working in West Africa as the linguist for two nationally run translation teams. Pamela loves engaging with local language communities as they begin discovering the riches and beauty of their own language. She has worked with many different language groups across West Africa, helping them develop writing systems, often for the first time, and providing training for national translators.
